Mentorship for web designers who want to define their own version of success

Web Design Business Mentorship is a six-month 1:1 program for web designers who want personalized guidance and support as they grow their businesses and make good money their way.

You have your own reasons for becoming a web designer

Whatever they may be, I’m willing to bet that they have something to do with living an unconventional life.

You love that this career allows you to:

  • Be your own boss and be completely in charge of who you work with and when

  • Do meaningful work by supporting people who are making a difference in the world

  • Grow as a person and a professional by regularly challenging yourself to learn new things and upgrade your skills

  • Solve problems for your clients with creativity, strategy, and a little bit of imagination

  • Show up as your whole self without having to hide parts of who you are or hustling to meet someone else’s definition of success

  • Have plenty of white space for living and doing the things you love other than web design

But living an unconventional life can get lonely

If you’re like most website designers, you don’t have many people in your life who “get it.”

Your friends and family may support your business, but they don’t understand the ins and outs of being a creative entrepreneur.

Which means that every time you have to navigate a new challenge, there’s nobody to talk to or bounce ideas off of.

You love creating websites… but the business side of things is a whole other story

There’s no denying how capable you are. Becoming a self-taught web designer doesn’t happen overnight, and I know how dedicated you are to solidifying your skills and knowledge.

But no amount of design courses, textbooks, or YouTube tutorials can prepare you for the challenges and roadblocks of running a business.

Which is exactly why you sometimes feel stuck when it comes to…

  • Figuring out how much to charge for a project

  • Standing out in a saturated market

  • Finding new clients (while simultaneously serving the ones you already have)

  • Handling a difficult client who doesn’t respect boundaries

  • Creating a work schedule that works for you, your energy levels, and your desired lifestyle

Danbee smiling slightly, holding an espresso cup sitting in a black rattan chair

I know how much that can suck — because I’ve been there

When I left my corporate career behind and went all-in on my business, I had a pretty good sense of what I was doing.

But after more than a decade of leading and working within teams, I knew how valuable an outside perspective could be.

So, one of the first moves I made when I turned my side hustle into a full-time business was to hire a coach-slash-mentor — and it’s still one of the best things I’ve ever done for my business.

Having a coach is like having a built-in safety net for my business, allowing me to make decisions quickly and confidently.

And that’s what I want for you, too.

I have no doubt that you could find success on your own

But why should you?

The idea that you have to navigate every aspect of building your business on your own to be truly successful is a myth perpetuated by capitalism and individualism.

Life is so much easier and more joyful when we lean on each other. When you get support from someone who understands the nuances of your industry, you not only lighten your load but also make smooth and sustainable progress toward your goals.

  • If you’re someone who loves finding simpler and more efficient ways to work…

  • If you’re interested in fast-tracking your success…

  • And if you’d like to work with someone who not only gets it but who’s also committed to helping you carve your unique path…

Then you’ll love Web Design Business Mentorship.

My confidence is through the roof. I’m working my dream job. It’s happening right now.

“I knew I needed help building a successful business, but I wasn’t sure this mentorship program would be the right thing for me. The tipping point for me was how Danbee raised her prices 3 times while I was getting to know her. She was booking out her calendar months in advance and creating all these courses also. It showed that she knew what she was doing and I decided that I wanted her help.

I had this idea in my head that building a business is tough, hard work, that you have to work 14 hours a day, weekends, weeknights, all the time. That it would take years for you to experience the freedom part. That was my old model.

The new model with Danbee is: Do what feels right for you, with the techniques and the tools that feel right for you.

Working with Danbee has taught me to trust myself, which is going to trickle into the rest of my life. It’s amazing. So amazing, in fact, that I’m mentoring with her again and we’re doing another three months*, because I can’t get enough.”

*When Courtney and I worked together, my mentorship program was a three-month container. Because most of my clients preferred engagements lasting at least six months, I redesigned this to be a more comprehensive six-month program.

Introducing

Web Design Business Mentorship

A six-month 1:1 mentorship program for web designers who want to love their clients and make good money while embracing all of their identities.

If you’re a web designer who wants to…

  • Book out your services with clients who see you as a respected partner in their business rather than a “pixel pusher”

  • Get clarity on your business fundamentals, from choosing a niche and creating packages to setting up lead generation and client onboarding processes

  • Make more money with your business by using inclusive and socially responsible marketing

  • Build a business that supports your life of freedom (whatever that looks like for you)

Then you’re in the right place because this program was created with you in mind!

The Web Design Business Roadmap

Business (like life) isn’t linear, and everyone’s experience is different. However, most web design businesses go through four distinct phases.

Web Design Business Mentorship has been carefully designed with these four phases in mind, with resources to support you at each stage of your journey.

  • Hands with pink nail polish typing on laptop

    Lay Your Foundation

Start building websites, create packages to address client needs, and establish a process for working with clients.

  • Hands holding sticky notes near a laptop, with note paper and pencil in the background

    Refine Your Offer

Find your niche, get more clarity in your messaging, and learn to better market, sell and deliver your packages.

  • Woman wearing a hijab recording a video using her phone in front of a ring light

    Strengthen Your Brand

Build a strong online presence, grow your audience, and start raising your prices while supporting better-fit clients.

  • Black business owner behind a microphone, putting on headphones

    Grow Your Profits

Add additional revenue streams to your business, generate consistent income, and begin to sell more without working more.

What’s included

Curious about how we move through those phases together?

Here’s what you can expect to get when you join.

  • Business Check-In

Your first step is to fill out an in-depth questionnaire. Promise I’ll keep this fun! It’ll get you thinking about your business on a deeper level and will help me get to know your business (almost) as well as you do.

  • Onboarding Call

Once I’ve reviewed your questionnaire, we’ll hop on a call where we’ll figure out which phase you’re in right now. This will help us get clear on where you’re going, what to do next, and how to start moving your business forward.

  • Mentoring Calls

We’ll meet on Zoom twice a month. We’ll agree on a regular schedule that works for both our time zones, with room to flex around unexpected life situations.

These calls are for YOU. You can share what you’re working through, ask questions, and get help. My goal is for you to always leave these calls feeling clear about your next steps.

  • Voxer Support

You can reach out to me on Voxer (a voice and text messaging app) at any time between our mentoring calls.

Many of my clients find it helpful to process what they’re going through by talking it out. With Voxer support, you can get my take on a situation right away and decide how to move forward (without having to wait until our next call).

Plus all my courses and templates

When you join Web Design Business Mentorship, you also get all access to ALL the resources available in my shop. When you complete the 6-month program, you’ll get lifetime access to all the courses, templates, and workbooks.

All prices below are in USD.

Courses

  • Process and tools for building a successful web design business, your way. Learn to sell and deliver high-ticket client projects that help you grow your business to new heights.

  • Forget Instagram carousels. Scrap your lead magnet. Stop googling “content strategy.” And instead... Create a portfolio of case studies showing off your happy clients.

  • This Flux Academy-approved masterclass teaches you a fun and easy process that you can repeat whenever you want a quick cash injection.

  • Learn to plan and execute brand interviews that get you all the information you need to write high-converting copy for your clients.

  • Build a business that feels welcoming and supportive for people from all around the world. This recorded workshop helps you examine your marketing & sales practices and start taking steps to make them more inclusive for a global community.

  • Create inclusive websites that are welcoming and easier to use for your diverse and international audience.

  • Writing your website copy can be hard, so this guide offers practical tips to make it easier. It also covers niching, messaging, and market research, which most people skip (big mistake).

  • Let’s not overcomplicate this. Work faster and smarter with my simple Dubsado setup. I’ll show how to create a super-smooth onboarding experience that impresses your clients even before you start designing.

Templates and Workbooks

  • Get better at selling your web design services over a call with this 8-part sales call script. This template covers all the questions you need to ask during a sales call, the information you need to share about your process, and how to respond to difficult questions.

  • To cut through the noise and stand out in a sea of samey-same web designers all offering “on-brand, high-converting websites,” you need an about page that makes the reader want YOU to create their website.

Use this copy template to write the first draft of your money-making about page in just a couple of hours.

  • I created this copy template to help you put your website audit offer out there and start getting paid to review other people’s websites. Goes well with the Website Audit Masterclass.

  • The project brief helps you make sure that you and your client are on the same page by outlining your project objectives, scope, and other requirements. This fillable PDF workbook includes real examples from one of my best website projects to date, plus prompts and room for your own work.

  • Build trust with your clients through carefully structured video calls.

Meet Michelle: a web designer for female coaches, consultants, and service providers

Michelle smiles into the camera. She is a white woman with dark brown hair. She is in a well-lit room with white walls, and leaning against a window.

The story

Before we started working together, Michelle had taken more courses than she wanted to admit, but still lacked clarity on how to create a stable business that worked for her.

She was feeling desperate for client work, but wasn’t sure where to find ideal clients (or who they even were), and was dealing with feelings of guilt around not making enough money.

What Michelle really wanted was a clear roadmap on where to go and how to get there, so she could feel more confident that her business could support her life. She was particularly drawn to an over-the-shoulder style of teaching and was keen to get her work critiqued by someone she respected and trusted.

Michelle’s goals

Michelle came to the program with a mix of business, financial, and personal goals.

Her most pressing goal was to consistently book clients that she loves to work with. She also wanted to earn enough to continue to invest in her business and pay herself a good wage and was curious about pursuing passive income streams.

At the same time, like most creative entrepreneurs, her vision went far beyond her business. She also wanted to being present for her son, provide a good life for her son and spend more time on personal creative projects — and knew that setting up the right business fundamentals would allow her that freedom and flexibility.

Her results

Over our six months together, Michelle was able to:

  • Get clear on her niche, her messaging, and her offerings

  • Relaunch her website with clearly defined packages

  • Sign a high-ticket retainer client

  • Book 18 podcast interviews, including on top 1% shows (according to listennotes.com)

  • Launch her first Squarespace template kit, with a successful live beta round of engaged customers

  • Build a business that she feels proud of and excited to work on

In her words:

“The emotional and business growth I’ve experienced since working with you has been huge. You really helped me achieve what I wanted and I feel like I got so much more than my money’s worth.

I recently negotiated and put together by far my biggest client project to date, and you were a super big part of that. When I came across this opportunity I felt like I was way out of my depth. Talking it through with you made me feel confident that I can take it on, and you helped me figure out the steps I needed to take to sign the client.

To anyone who’s thinking of working with Danbee I couldn’t endorse her highly enough. She’s such a kind, thoughtful person and she’s also become a friend.

Whether you’re just starting out or have a few projects under your belt, it’s super valuable to have someone like Danbee in your corner, someone to lean on as you work through the bumps in the road and someone to help put things into perspective so that you’re always are aiming in the right direction, towards what you really want.”

“Even on group calls, I feel like I’m having a one on one experience with Danbee. I feel seen and heard, but not just seen and heard. I can feel that she takes a genuine interest in me.

I came into the program saying: I have to launch my website, I need sustainability, I want more clients. Danbee has helped me move forward in all of those facets.

But the unexpected thing is, the peace that I have. I feel a sense of calm. I feel solid. I feel a renewed sense of confidence.

And probably the most unexpected thing was just healing a little bit from the frustrations of having some toxic coaches in the past who did not care about me. This kind of restored sense of trust with someone is very healing.

Danbee is really smart with processes. She’s a talented designer, and she’s savvy in business and marketing. And she’s genuine, caring and calm. I’ve really, really enjoyed working with you, Danbee. I can’t wait to continue working with you and see the growth that I go through.”

Working with you gave me a sense of calm and assurance that I don’t usually have.

“During our time together, I set my intentions, you gave me guidance and direction during our calls, and I used what I learned to take clear action.

I put myself out there much more — offering website audits and calls to meet with people. The biggest difference for me was the mindset shift that happened while we worked together. Now I have this little Danbee-like voice in my head that tells me it’s gonna be OK!

I felt so comfortable talking with you, it was like talking to a supportive friend about business stuff. We brainstormed together and I made decisions based on what made the most sense for me. It wasn’t a generic process that you implement with every designer, which is awesome because everyone is different. In my opinion, that’s the point in working with a mentor.”

Working with you is the best thing that has happened to me this year.

“The way you always put my questions into perspective, and help me ask the right questions, has helped me fight analysis paralysis so I actually get things done!

Immediately after working with you, I signed 2 clients in one week. One is a 6,000 EUR e-commerce Webflow project I’m so happy to work on. Everything you helped me think about and take action on over the last few months really helped me get these contracts.

Thank you for being here with me.”

I can talk to clients comfortably on Zoom calls and pitch them my offers — as an introvert.

“You helped bridge the huge gap of not knowing how to approach potential clients and getting them on sales calls.

I now understand how to approach and pitch to leads in an introvert-friendly way that feels more comfortable and low-pressure for me. Even though I still struggle with sales calls, the more I do it the less fear I have!

I felt really silly a lot of times because I think I brought a lot of past baggage into my business, but you were always there to gently push me forward.

It was a big relief knowing I could just free-flow my thoughts when problems came up, and you’d be there to listen and help me work them out. You’re very level-headed and it was really comforting to have you be my rock.”
