If you don’t have enough clients even though you’re devoting hours (and hours) every week to your social media strategy, it’s time to shift your energy to crafting better case studies. Because a portfolio of 3-4 solid case studies will work 24/7 to attract good-fit clients who are ready to work with you.

“I felt an instant shift in my ability to improve my business. Now, my case studies showcase the full extent of the work included in a project. I’ve also used what I learned in the Case Study Recipe to organize all my client projects.
It’s only been a few months, but I’ve already received messages and comments from potential clients who have seen the new case studies 🙌
If you feel your portfolio isn’t up to scratch and isn’t helping your business, I highly recommend grabbing the Case Study Recipe.”

What you’ll learn
What will we cover?
1. Ingredients: How much of which elements to include
Learn the essential components that make up a powerful case study, and hit the right balance between simplicity and detail.
2. Directions: How to combine your ingredients
The best case studies tell a story. I’ll give you clear step-by-step instructions for telling your story in an authentic way that highlights your skills and expertise without coming across as over-the-top.
3. Equipment: Tools to speed up the writing process
Most designers don’t write enough content for their portfolios, which means they don’t provide enough information for their potential clients. You are not going to make that mistake because I’m going to show you exactly what potential clients want to see, and provide fill-in-the-blanks templates with lots of examples.
4. Presentation: How to share your completed case study
Your work is not done once you complete your case study. Learn how to get your case studies in front of the right people to maximize your chances of attracting good-fit clients (even if you have a tiny audience).
“It was clear and quick to work through. The overall format is good for both when you want to follow through step by step, or go back and check something when you need to recall a specific detail.
I attended several of the workshops you hosted inside Flux Academy (all really interesting by the way). You are the one who made me discover the concept of web audits, which became my easiest-to-market service. I happened to see an offer for the Case Study Recipe right when I needed to remake my portfolio so it was a no-brainer.”
— Aly Diallo
Web and Graphic Designer, France
“I loved how you broke down each step and gave examples.
In my head, a case study seemed like something way more complicated, showcasing statistics and conversions, etc. But you actually made it seem so much more manageable and less scary.
I realized I already have created good case studies, but they mostly consist of images. So I’m now working on collecting the information to add to them and showcase the work behind those images! The examples made it so much easier for me to think of what to add to my case studies.”
I also loved the serving suggestions -- I actually can’t wait to start sharing!”

About Danbee
Who am I to teach you about case studies and portfolios?
Hi! If we haven’t met yet — I’m Danbee. I help web designers build profitable and inclusive businesses without overworking. I started my business in 2019 as a web designer. Helping my clients build thriving online coaching businesses, I grew my business to 6 figures in under 3 years.
I created the Case Study Recipe because I saw so many earlier-stage web designers wasting precious time and energy on Instagram reels, blog posts, lead magnets, etc. then getting disappointed when those didn’t bring in new clients.
Because I also made the same mistakes when I first started out as a web designer, I know those methods are not the most effective for getting new clients at that specific stage of business.
A better strategy? Creating a portfolio of case studies. A case study guides potential clients through a simple and easy-to-understand story about a problem you’ve solved through web design. It shows them that if they have a similar problem, it’s likely that you can help them, too.
Case studies live as evergreen content on your website and make it easier for other people to share your work.
When potential clients reach out to me to learn more about hiring me as a web designer, most of them already know that they want to choose me. How? They’ve seen my case studies. They know I’ve helped other businesses like theirs, and they come to me because they wanted similar results.
My case studies make me money, and I’ve bottled everything I’ve learned over the years about creating compelling case studies into the Case Study Recipe.
But don’t just take it from me.
See why Ran Segall, founder of Flux Academy, called my website the “perfect design portfolio” in this unsolicited spotlight in front of his audience of (then) 325,000 subscribers.
(I still can’t believe this happened!)
